We are four Canadians who have cruised on other lines and this year decided to try MSC. We embarked in Trieste, Italy and the one good comment was that our balcony cabin was everything we had expected. There is no doubt that this cruise catered to the European people aboard as far as the menu. We did manage to have hamburgers at lunch on two occasions but these were virtually raw in the center. Two of our party do not like fish or pasta so on some evenings we were at a loss as to what to have. This cruise line insists that you turn over your passports when you embark and these are kept throughout the cruise. We insisted that we have our passports when we went on-shore. As our husbands explained, if we were injured and had to be hospitalized and the ship left port without us we would not be able to get back into Canada without them. One of the reception crew insisted that if we just showed them our MSC card we would be able to get back to Canada. Apparently she was not versed in the Customs re-entry process. We did get our passports every time we left the ship although it did mean waiting awhile for them to get them for us. Because my laptop would not function on the ship, even after purchasing time from the cruise reception, I used the internet cafe. In ten out of twelve times I tried to connect I could not get through but none-the-less was charged 4 euro each time. One evening we decided to go to the nightly show and could not believe how amateurish it was. We had seen grade school children put on a better show. If you want extremely loud music and blinding lights than you would enjoy these shows. One last comment, we found some of the crew to be extremely rude, something we had not encountered on other cruise lines. Sorry to say this is a cruise line that I would never recommend to anyone and we would never book a cruise on this line again.
