Left south Florida day before departure with husband and another couple who are Princes loyalists but wanted to try Celebrity since we hyped them. We stayed for a great AAA rate at the Westin near the library and had a lovely tour of Vancouver the evening we arrived. In the morning we walked to the drugstore and liquor store to buy some essentials. We don't have children and prefer a mild atmosphere for four 40 year old DINKS. The line would work, for all we wanted to do - eat and spa, eat and spa, drink and sleep, eat and spa....

Our arrival at Infinity was uneventful. Of course, Celebrity walks you to your cabin as you sip the glass of champagne which is handed to you upon entry to the ship. Our friends were quite impressed, until they got to their cabin (Sky Suite 6125). The cabin was beautiful, but the veranda, to everyone's surprise, should be considered obstructed. I could not believe this veranda view - machinery, and equipment! After speaking with Guest Services, nothing could be accommodated for a cabin change and our Princess couple stayed reluctantly, using the veranda minimally. Post cruise, I wrote to Celebrity because I was floored about the veranda in 6125. Celebrity contacted my friends and sent an enormous voucher. Good for Celebrity! Our cabin, 6146, was of course completely different than other Sky Suites. I love a good sized Veranda and that's what we got. Furnishings of dark cherry and a swing out patio door, very different than in 6125, made the room appear very dark but this was Alaska so we all were more interested in being outside and seeing the beautiful scenery. Oh and the bathroom...to die for.

Our ports were Ketchikan, Juneau and Icy Strait. This cruise was more of a sightseeing one with Hubbard Glacier and R/T Inside Passage. In Ketchikan I hired a CC recommended charter for salmon fishing. Not one bite, but did feed a bald eagle who came right to the boat. In Juneau we splurged on a helicopter ride to Mendenhall Glacier. It was the highlight of the trip and months later, still talk of that trek fondly. In Icy Strait there was not much to see or do. I did notice a zipline which I am extremely addicted to, but decided against it due to time.. Husband went on the Nature / Bear hike to find some bears but he only saw bear poop. Infinity could not get near Hubbard due to massive amounts of ice all around us, however, the Naturalist (great guy) told us we were 8 miles away yet it looked no more than 2. Truly, the cruising (sea days) on this trip were stunning. I would take this same IT again but later in the summer where my trade off would be more kids aboard in exchange for catching a salmon and seeing a wild brown Alaskan bear.
