I'll start with the bad. There's not much, but it's worth mentioning.

We've never sailed Europe before and wanted to try it on a brand new ship. We arrived in Rome a day early and spent the night in Carnival's pre-paid, "premium" hotel. We paid a total of $600 for the hotel and it was honestly nothing better than a Howard Johnson's. The staff was extraordinarily rude and it was absolutely not worth the money. I would book a hotel on my own and just pay for the transfer. Many people did this and they simply showed up at our hotel to take the bus to the ship. The second negative was the spa. I expected a gorgeous spa on Carnival, but it was the worst I've ever experienced. No better than a spa in a strip mall. They are very rude and stared at me like I was crazy when I asked for a robe to change into prior to my massage. Their answer was that they do not supply robes and I was to sit in the lobby in a towel. This was seriously their response. I would have left, but they'd have charged me a 50% cancellation fee. The massage was average, not worth the $200 they charged. Avoid the spa at all costs.

Now....the good. Embarkation was perfect. Fast and early. Luggage was to our room very quickly. I've never had an inside cabin, but didn't want to spend the money this time on a balcony. We were very pleasantly surprised. It was a perfect room. Plenty of closet and drawer space, gorgeous warm colors and the beds....ah the beds. Perfect!!! It was dark, cozy and we never heard a thing, or felt the ship move much. Don't waste the money on a balcony in Europe. Save it for Alaska!
