My wife and I have just returned from a 7-day cruise on the Caribbean Princess from Sept. 2nd to Sept. 9th. We visited Princess Cays, Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Georgetown (Grand Cayman) and Cozumel (Mexico). This was our 15th cruise, the first with Princess Lines. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary during the cruise.

Living in one of Fort Lauderdale's suburbs, we packed our bags after breakfast the morning of the cruise's departure. We made our way to the harbor and arrived at the terminal around 11:30. Embarkation began around 12:30 and was carried out in a practiced, orderly way. My wife is handicapped and travels with an electric scooter. We were among the first passengers allowed at the registration desk, with all the other passengers with reduced mobility. We boarded the ship before the stampede began. That is customary with all cruise lines.

We had secured a reservation for cabin 312: an inside, wheelchair-accessible stateroom on deck 10 (Caribe) located next to the forward elevators. This location proved to be ideal for us. We found the accommodations to be spacious and laid out in a very efficient manner. Our cabin attendant, Maria, was a peach and we were truly sorry to part ways at the end of the cruise.
