My husband and I decided to celebrate our 21st anniversary with an Hawaiian cruise aboard the Pride of America. We had a wonderful experience! I booked our cabin through an internet agency and received such a great deal that we chose to upgrade to a penthouse suite.

We made flight arrangements ourselves, flying into Honolulu the day before our cruise in an effort to acclimate ourselves to the time zone change (6 hours) and avoid any flight delay problems. Our flights were on time and I had arranged for a lei greeting at the gate as well as a limo ride to the Royal Hawaiian. The room I'd reserved was not available and we were graciously upgraded to a two bedroom suite. The hotel was lovely and the staff efficient and friendly. After dinner at Dukes (very good), we managed to stay up until 9:30 (3:30 a.m. our time) before enjoying a good night's sleep. The next morning we had a nice breakfast at the Hula Grill and then walked around Waikiki before heading to the ship.

Embarkation: Embarkation was easy as we had booked a penthouse suite and were able to go through the VIP line.
