Fellow cruisers, I could write a book on the virtues of the Golden Princess, but I won't bore you. We stayed at the Embassy Suites near Seattle Airport. The next day took a cab to the pier. Boarding was very easy & organized. The ship was impeccably clean; the food was delicious in every dining room, especially the buffet; the activities we chose like exercising, yoga, shows, listening to tour info & more were all wonderful. The music in all areas such as piano bar & other areas of the ship was phenomenal. The Lido Deck was a fun place to act out by dancing, drinking and walking our 3 miles every day. We are 2 single women who did find gentlemen to dance with and partake some of the activities with. It was the most relaxing experience, especially having the balcony to watch the sea and eat breakfast outdoors. The weather could have been better, but the cold was a welcome change from our hot Florida sticky humidity. The help was amazing...always there to fulfill our every need with no complaints and only smiles. When someone couldn't help us, they found someone who could in no time at all. Juneau was well-worth the excursion time out to the Mendenhall Glacier, to the gardens and tour of the town. It was exactly as I thought it would be. Skagway, the White Pass & Yukon Route was just beautiful going up north to where the gold miners seeking work and fortunes spent so much time at the turn of the century. Rain cut that day short as it was a bone-chilling, one not to walk into town after the 4-hour train ride. Ketchikan was a tourist town but very charming with so many churches & parks. It has step streets in places and is chock full of Alaskan culture from the native Americans to the Rainforest. On to Victoria, Canada where we only had 4 hrs to cover the town at night. The harbor was pretty but not too much to my liking there after seeing the govt buildings & TheEmpress Hotel. Arriving in Seattle proved to be a lovely day. Easy disembarking & off to a major 4 hr www.SeattleCityTours.com tour that we found on our own, excellent tour guide named Liz, if you guys get there. It was so interesting...lots of panache with a natural flair. Remember it's the home of Microsoft's Bill Gates & Paul Allen & Starbucks & UPS & Boeing. All part of our American experience. The next day we went out by ourselves to the famous Pike's Farmer's Market. Wow, was that exciting. Lots to see at the harbor and chock full of things to buy that are better than NYC! Love this city but for us too far from our children to reside there. We stayed again at Embassy Suites with complimentary breakfast & drinks from 5:30 to 7. We ate downtown at Athenian Diner where they filmed "Sleepless in Seattle." We also had delicious gelato on Pike & 1st Ave at an Italian cafe. All is all, it was an inexpensive but delightful trip. The airfare was $418 roundtrip by Delta, which turned out to be accommodating and very nice. Enjoy your next cruise; we certainly will with Princess Line.
