While this was not our first cruise, it was our first cruise on Carnival. Embarkation was really poorly done. At 1:00 p.m. the lines were REALLY long and moved VERY slow. CArnival really needs to work on speeding that process up. They require 10 cruises before you get VIP check in. That could be reduced since the VIP line never had anyone in it.

Once on board though things got better fast. Our bags were at our cabin by the time I got to my cabin which was a first on any line. Our cabin, 2448, was very spacious and clean. There was a foul, sulfur like smell in the hallway of deck 2 throughout the week, but the cabin was fine. Room steward quickly introduced himself and was great.

The layout of the Conquest is somewhat choppy. Many places outside have 2 or 3 steps to go up and down to get where you want to go. Didn't have a very flowing design. The casino was large and dealers were very friendly. Bars were well placed although I quickly found out that when you pay a 15% gratuity automatically, there is no incentive for good service. I constantly had to ask to be served at many bars even when I was the only one at the bar! The 2 pools were sufficient with 4 hot tubs. Outdoor programs kept everyone entertained and laughing and there was alot to eat if you got hungary out there.
