We have just disembarked from a seven day cruise on the Carnival Destiny. We were extremely unhappy with the whole experience. In fact, we even contemplated getting off the ship mid-cruise since we were so miserable with the conditions on board. They are summarized below in no particular order: Our suite was dirty when we entered. Bedspread and pillowcase very dirty. White paint and paint chips were all over our balcony including the chairs. Could not sit down until the steward cleaned it later that day. Slide and slide pool were closed all week. One reason that we booked the Destiny was because our kids love water slides. Only one pool open most of the time. That made the remaining pool EXTREMELY crowded (mostly with unsupervised kids) to the point we could not go in. The ship was basically dull. There was nothing interesting to do. When onboard we were in our room most of the time. The pools close very early in the evening. The hot tubs were FILLED TO THE BRIM with unsupervised kids (approx 25) swimming around and bumping into people. I have never seen so many kids/people in a hot tub. Frankly, it was gross! We didn't go back in after the first day. The meals were not good at all in the dining room. We only had one dinner that we thought was very good. Even the breakfasts were just passable. This was extremely disappointing and in our view not up to Carnival's standards. We requested the late dinner seating. We didn't get it...got early seating. As guests with a suite, we expected to at least receive the seating we requested. And every table we were sat at had no view whatsoever. I expected more having reserved a suite. I thought we were considered VIP's but that turned out to not be the case at all. In fact, I felt we were given less attention by the staff than the large groups of passengers traveling together. Servers were cordial but not overly helpful or friendly. Kids club was good but when my son threw up there we were told to go to the doctor and that there would be no charge because it happened at kids club. We were told by Hope (manager of kids club) that was Carnival's policy. But the purser and the doctor would not refund the $60.00 doctor's visit charge. We (and Hope) disputed the charge but we were charged anyway. Suite(category 11) BARELY fit us four. No pull down beds. Just one king, one twin and a rollaway. It was almost impossible to walk to the bathroom during the night. There was an automatic light in the closet that went on whenever the closet doors were open. Every night during sleeping hours the closet doors slid open multiple times, the light went on and woke us up. Every night...multiple times!

Several days before our cruise we were online (cruisecritic.com) and found a review by a Carnival Destiny Staff Member. The staff member stated there were several behind the scenes personnel issues. The staff member stated that several changes were planned in the near future. All I can say is that there was no joy or happiness on that ship; either in the staff or guests. The elevators were terrible. Most of the time they wouldn't move until a loud alarm sounded then they would move.

Overall, this was a terrible cruise. This was our 3rd Carnival cruise and definitely the last. We spent approximately $6500.00 on this vacation. This was money that was hard-earned that we won't be handing over to Carnival again for a sub-standard vacation.
