My wife Barb and I just returned from the Century. It was our 3rd sailing with Celebrity and the first time in a suite. We had read these wonderful boards getting info re: on what to expect but they were incredibly conservative.
We flew into Ft. Lauderdale a day early and opted to stay at the Comfort Inn on Stirling road. There is a van pick up at the airport and they will also drop you off at the pier. The hotel staff is relatively friendly and the room was ok, clean, had a fridge and microwave. The food is good, but they include (sneaky) a 15% gratuity which causes overtipping. Breakfast (there is an omelette bar) is ok, and the van setup to the port is good. We also stayed another day on the return at this hotel. We had made these arrangements on reading some of the posts on the CC board. MOST likely we will NOT stay here again. The price was $100 + and on priceline I got a room at the Renaissance for $112 going and $110 coming back. The Renaissance and the cab rides too and from were a much better choice and less expensive. However I don't think you will easily get a room at that price, unless it's the off season. Also the food is much better at the Renaissance than on the ship!!!
The sky suite on this class of ship is very roomie for 2 people (and I weigh 300 lbs +). The balcony is huge (how huge? I am glad you asked ). It is big enough for a table 2 deck chairs and 2 lounge chairs, a space between them all to walk and that's 2/3rd of the deck.
