Pride of Aloha - Hawaii

Sail Date: August 2007
Destination: Hawaii
Embarkation: Honolulu

We had a rough start due to flight cancellations from madison wis.We had to take a bus to Chicago catch a flight to San Diego, then Honolulu. The NCL crew was awesome--put us up for the night and got us to meet up with the ship(Pride of Aloha) in the first port on Monday in Kauai. We had a bit of a time getting a cabin as the first room we had booked was taken. The second room was also taken and on the third try we got a empty room. Once we unpacked we went out to the beach on Kauai. It was beautiful. We took the shuttles to HILO HATTIE store and some other local shops. We had an over night there and then off to Hilo. Hilo we did an excursion from NCL.It was a bit pricey but we got 4 stops for the price. We saw the volcano, a waterfall, tropical garden, and the mauna loa nut factory-the best macadamias! Next to Kona.We went to turtle bay, saw tons of fish and turtles...went to Bubba-Gumps-awesome food..then back to sail to Maui. We ate at the buffet every day for breakfast and supper. The More food was very tasty and Dave Lillis(exec chef) was wonderful! We were treated like VIP's after he helped us with the room mixup. Thanks(MAHALO) again Dave for EVERYTHING!and the tips on sites to see!! Our steward was Josh Coentro-Fabulous guy!!Very nice--Our room was always clean, fresh towels, and mints nightly. He also gave us tips on sights to see in the ports of call.Thank you(MAHALO) Josh!Glad we had you! In Maui we rented a car (mustang convertible), and checked out the beaches along Lahaina, and went to AIO needle point park.Awesome views! Tonight was surf n turf. Fabulous job in the Palace! Our waiter went beyond excellent service. The last day in Maui we went to the malls and had fun with a couple from the ship(danielle and jimmy). Many nights we sat on deck with people we met-everyone was friendly and we had a great time. We saw the comedy shows and let me tell you...laugh til you cry! Everyone from the chef's, waiters, stewards, the security crew, and anyone else on the crew was very nice and helpful. Always greeting us, no matter what time of day or night.Taking time to ask how our day was.

The tours through Ncl were great. The guides were wonderful and very fun! We even purchased pictures that were taken each day as we set out to the sites!Very nice job gallery crew! They also offer pictures nightly-although we decided those were a bit high in price. Our flight left at 4:15 pm, so we took the last excursion through Ncl to Pearl Harbour and the city of Honolulu-once again wonderful! It was a great experience and would do it again. After the previous reviews we were afraid and then with the flight cancellation, we got nervous...all for nothing! We felt we got great food, service ect! So just have to go and see for yourself. Our troubles in the beginning proved to be well worth it and we saw how great NCL really takes care of their people.(it does help to book air and all through NCL--even with an online agency!(And get travel guard ins.)Pride of aloha was a good as we had hoped! We greatly miss the crew, (and new friends) we got to know well! Happy voyages ALL!Mahalo!! Maybe we will meet again! Less
