Ship Facts: Celebrity Infinity Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Celebrity Infinity Deck Plans
Celebrity Infinity - Alaska
Embarkation: We arrived around 12:00, having already been in Vancouver for a few days (nice trip). It could not have been smoother or easier. We were on board by 12:15 or 12:30. I went to guest relations to try to reserve at the specialty restaurant and buy kids soda stickers, but only to be directed to other locations. Couldn't see maitre d' either! But no problem, everything fell into place quickly. Room was ready promptly at 1:00 and was lovely. Light in bathroom was flickering, and when we reported it to Lucy (our cabin stewardess), it was repaired within minutes.

First night's entertainment featured the naturalist, Brent Nixon, who was really fabulous. His "shtick" on stage is a surprise -- very manic and wild -- but he is very knowledgeable and gave great programs throughout the week. He really adds a ton of value to the trip, if you are looking for nature stuff.

The celebrity orchestra is great, as is the a cappella vocal band. The celebrity singers and dancers were a bit hack. Later in the week, comedians Jeff Nease, and subsequently Patrick and "matilda" (ventriloquist) were truly enjoyable.

Ketchikan: Half day salmon fishing (via shoretrips.com) - very friendly captain; informative, educational, enjoyable, and of course lots of fish. Ketchikan by land and sea (via celebrity) enjoyable enough, but not very active or interactive. Brief boat trip (saw some bald eagles) followed by tour of the salmon cannery, brief stop at Saxman village without ability to see the show. Note: It actually was sunny and warm!!

Juneau: My husband and son took the helicopter to mendenhall glacier (via celebrity). Really well organized , exhilarating, and wonderful, but would have liked more time in the air. The total trip was less than advertised. Glacier view sea kayaking (via shoretrips.com) was also a little less than advertised. Glacier "view" was about 10 miles away. A good time and informative, but other than bald eagles and one seal, not much wild life to view.

Hubbard Glacier: Fabulous!! Narrated by Brent Nixon, and very informative. This is a real "ship-wide" event with everyone getting into the swing of it. We got very close. Truly awesome experience.

Icy Strait ) Not much going on here, but our teenage son did the ziprider line. Quite an experience!! Nice nature trails too here.

Tendering was always a breeze. Celebrity is a "well oiled machine".

Food: Buffet always fresh and plentiful and high quality. In the main dining room we had some service issues the first couple of days which were promptly and completely addressed and we had excellent service the rest of the trip. The food in the main dining room is varied and creative and beautifully presented. However, dishes were not always hot and fresh tasting, which is quite difficult to accomplish when making 1,000 dishes!! Also, we had late seating, which may have affected this. Aqua spa cafe is awesome food and the spa is a great place to hang out.

Spa and fitness: See above. Classes and exercise room were great. Only had crowds one day. Look out for sales jobs for weird products for "detoxifying" and similar snake oil trips. The therapy pool and hot tubs were also nice.

Service is totally awesome down to the last worker -- only the fewest of exceptions that our easy to ignore. Drinks in the bars are hearty and a good value if you get the daily specials. For us, no need to smuggle on board, as we were willing to spend the money and enjoyed the party atmosphere of drinking in the bars.

We came with two older teens. Teen center was a decent hangout, but the kids invariably ended up hanging out other places. The teens really need their own "disco", as they get kicked out of the bars!!
