This was our second cruise on Princess and our first on the Grand. If we had sailed on the grand on our first cruise we would not have come back to Princess! It started when we first arrived to the ship.We were brought thru the crews entrance to get on so we never got an embarkation picture. Then when we got to our cabin the bathroom vent fell out of the ceiling. It was promptly fixed 2 days later! On the first night we had dinner the waiter never didn't have a clue about my husbands special diet or another persons diet at our table. We had to hunt down the head waiter who actually had the special diet list but made no attempt to approach us. We complained and got the usual plate of chocolate covered strawberries. I do have to say the rest of cruise they were great. Our cabin steward was awesome. The buffet was terrible.I actually lost weight on this cruise!! My husband had to explain to a buffet manager that skim milk and low fat milk were not the same. They only had low fat which they said was skim. They labeled lower fat salad dressings as low fat.The white rice they had was labeled brown. In 12 days we were asked twice in the Horizon if we wanted something to drink even though the waiters kept walking by us and seemed to have nothing to do.By the last days of the cruise they were serving rotten fruit.I still can't believe how disgusting the Horizon food was!!Thank God for diner in the dining room!! The overall attitude of the staff seemed to be that they really didn't care about the passengers. This was evident when "Hernan" from the tour desk yelled at me because I made a comment about not having time to shop when we were on 2 tours.I was making a comment in a nice voice when he said to me in a very snotty voice "If you wanted to shop then you should have booked a shopping tour"!His supervisor got a call and he supposedly talked to him but I also heard 2 other complaints about him.He told one lady that she should brought her own wheelchair with her like other people had and he wouldn't get her one until she asked him nicely. The exercise equipment was rigged. The second day on board I went to do laundry on my deck (Baja)and both the dryers barely worked. It took 2 rounds to get them dried to damp. The washers and dryers were broken on deck 10.The pursers desk said they would be fixed when we got to Southhampton. That's great since that was where our cruise ended,10 days later. All in all we talked to several people who said they would never go on the Grand Princess again and I have to say I wouldn't go if they paid me!!
