Returned from the Fantasy 8/16/2007. We had a wonderful time. From the public places, you could not tell that this is an older ship. The corridors to the cabins were typical old style Carnival, but the other areas of the ship have been renovated nicely. The embarkation process went rather smoothly. The only problem we experienced was that the Julia Street parking terminal is closed and the directions I received instructed me to go there, and of course the problem of a rather antsy 7 y.o. wanting to board early. We arrived at approximately 11:15 pm and went thru the channels and had to wait until 12:15 in a holding area. Once on the boat, we experienced nothing but pure pleasure. I have to pry my 7 y.o. and 17y.o. from Camp Carnival and Club O2. The dining was exquisite. Our head waiter, Jamie from Bolvia was AWESOME, and as always the food especially the chocolate melting cake was great. And, I do believe that Francis, our cabin stewart really did sleep under our bed. You can imagine how messy the cabin was with a 7 yo girl and 17 yo boy. Big Tex, CD was a really funny guy. Kimmy the comedian was hilarious. And Mr. Magic was great. Fantasy dancers did a wonderful job of entertaining and including the cruisers. If you have not tried a cruise on the Fantasy, you really should. I sailed another Carnival ship approx 6 mo ago, which is in the Fantasy class and the Fantasy really out ranks it. The one thing that I was concerned about during our cruise was one of the shore excursions. In Costa Maya, we did the off road karts. There were approximately 9 units plus a guide unit. On our excursion 2 units broke down and one lost a wheel. This was a Carnival excursion, and on my satisfaction survey I did ask them to re-visit it for safety reasons.Overall, we had the time of our lives, and apparently just in time as a week later Hurricane Dean was in the vincinity. Thanks to all the Fantasy staff for making this vacation memorable.
