We left a day before which I highly recommend because it was less stressful then sailing out the same day you fly in. We rented a car for the day At FLL and stayed in Coral Gable at the Hyatt there. I got the room on hot wire for under $70. It took us no time to return the car to the next day to MIA and take a shuttle from there to the Port of Miami.
Embarkment-We arrived around 9:30am at the Port of Miami. I had filled everything out on line so that was easy. You still needed to fill out the Bahamas immigration form which we did while standing in line. I had not received my passport at the time of departure so after several calls to Carnival to be reassured that all I needed was a state issued ID and the proof that my passport was being processed, I was pretty confident that when I got to the person who was going to process us there would be no issue. I handed her my proof and she looked at me like I had three heads. At least the person behind her knew what it was so I didn't have much trouble. From there we went to another line. To wait to go onboard. That took around an hour since customs had not cleared the ship yet. By 11:30 we were on board and enjoying some lunch.
Cabin: Our cabin was fabulous. We had booked a Guaranteed Oceanview and was upgraded to a Balcony. The location was Fabulous and the Balcony was great. Our room was roomy, Clean(I am very anal about cleanliness when I am away) and the beds very comfy.
