We sailed the Disney Wonder for a family vacation....three grandchildren (ages 8, 5 and 3) and their parents...a total of 9 persons for the 4-day cruise. It was a grand vacation, certainly worth the expense. A few observations: Arrival: You might consider arriving the night before and staying in the area. Missing the cruise due to airline difficulties would be a major problem. Embarkation is relatively easy. Do complete as many documents on line as possible. Room: Not spacious, but certainly adequate. Two kids and their parents in one room was no problem. . Food: The food is OK, about what you would expect when serving a huge group. The rotation of restaurants, with the same servers, is simply brilliant. By the end of the trip, you will look forward to seeing your servers. Ours, Vijay and Adam, became our family's new friends. They helped to make our entire experience a delight. We ate as adults one evening in Paolo's, which we recommend. The food remains OK, but the break from the crowds and the atmosphere is worth the premium cost. However, when scheduling, call and ask to be sure you won't miss the pirate theme night in your scheduled restaurant. We should have. Room service is quick and efficient. Activities: Everything is first rate, living up to or beyond expectations. In, fact, WOW! The amount and variety of activities for all the kids is astounding, even until late night. The full days meant very tired but happy kids. Child Care: Definitely take advantage of it. The kids will enjoy it and you'll enjoy the break. It's available throughout the day. Book the nursery in advance, if possible. Personnel: Absolutely fantastic. The entire staff will work exceptionally hard to ensure you enjoy yourself. Its hard imagine how hard they work and how welcoming and delightful they are. Housekeeping matches any 5-star resort. Extra expenditures: We spent an additional $325.00 per person for gratuities, souvenirs, excursions, spa treatments, wine and the like. I would budget a minimum of $150.00 per person if being economical is a necessity. Entertainment: It's Disney! They have no equal. The shows were terrific...with a Broadway feel. Disembarkation: Truly easy. Since they board for the next cruise the same afternoon, you must disembark between 7AM and 9AM. We were off the ship at 9AM, gathered all our luggage (for 9 people) quickly, and arrived at the airport at 11AM. We could have caught an earlier flight than we had scheduled. Be aware that Orlando security lines may take a while. I would allow a good 30 minutes for security. If you are to be at the airport for an extended time, you may consider a day rate at the Hyatt Regency for about $100.00. Overall: we would highly recommend the Disney Wonder for enjoyment and value to any family. Bear in mind, however, it is not a peaceful, quiet vacation.
