Destinations and food service are high points for sailing on NCL's Pride of Aloha. I recommend early dining since long lines develop throughout the ship later hours. Having booked the cruise directly with the cruise line, there were more arrangement phone calls than I'd have liked, though my persistence paid off with an onboard credit. We did not pay extra for flight plans and did not get a seat assignment on the return flight until the night prior, something I didn't feel comfortable about. Travel days were outstanding and embarkation from a two night stay at Waikiki's Marriott went smoothly. Easy Fly disembarkation made the final day of travel nearly stress free. The excursion desk and staff effort score high, reception desk average. Public areas on this ship are worn out from overuse, a sour smell persisted in parts of the ship, and carpet and upholstery were torn. Interior maintenance is behind schedule. An overall feel for the lack of deep cleaning persisted from our stateroom to the entire ship. The bed skirt in our room was soiled, candy wrappers were under the bed where the suitcases were stored, and hair was on the bathroom floor the first day. After three days of a sewer smell from the shower drain a visit from the plumber solved the problem. Why housekeeping hadn't resolved it, who knows! Bring a few disposable cleaning towels to wipe stateroom surfaces upon embarkation since deep cleaning does not seem to occur. Entertainment was average to below average, likely appealing to guests who had one too many at the bar, finding anything funny. A lack of authentic Hawaiian entertainment, music, and Hawaiian history or cultural educational is absent onboard. The ship's library and game room were clean, tidy, a model for what the rest of the ship should have looked like. I rank Pride of Aloha average.
