My wife, brother, sister-in-law and two nieces boarded the Legend on July 8th for our 5th cruise together; 3 with Carnival, one each with Holland America and Royal Caribbean. They stayed in Cabin 8158. The embarkation process was quick and easy, and we boarded the ship around 12:30. We headed up to the Lido deck for lunch. Buffet style and nothing to rave about. We had packed bathing suits in our carry on, and after lunch we swam in the pool. This is a good idea, since our luggage did not arrive at our cabin until after 8:00 PM. Since my sister-in-law is a vegetarian, selections are extremely limited especially if you do not like curry dishes!

Just to summarize the food, it was fair; Holland America had the best food of the 5 cruises. We also felt that the food on Carnival has steadily gone downhill over the past 5 years, with the exception of the chocolate melting cake which my wife and sister-in-law had every night! Our dining wait service was excellent; Gede and Yoeman were top-notch and we even gave them an extra tip at the end of the week. Gede catered to my nieces, especially the 10 year old. He did magic tricks, created origami, and was a very warm and genuine person. My brother and I both had espresso after dinner, and after the first night, Yoeman brought it to us without being asked.

Our cabin steward, Julio and his staff were also very friendly and attentive to our needs. My brother's room had a problem with the A/C and Julio was on top of the situation until it got fixed which took 2 days. He also brought extra blankets and pillows as requested.
