Traveled with children

This was our first cruise. We had a great time. My husband and I had our 2 children with us ages 10 and 15. The most important thing I wanted to let people know is to travel the day before the ship sails. We had a horrible 1st day. Our plane was delayed 3 hrs . By the time we got off the plane in Miami we had 30 min to get our luggage and board a bus to the ship. Our luggage came out as they called last call for Royal Caribb passengers. We ran to the bus. We arrived at the ship as the safety info was being given to the passengers. Everyone was still with their life jackets on. By the time we found our stateroom we were so stressed out. But we were greeted by our stateroom attendant. What a nice man. He addressed us all by name and was very friendly. From that moment on we knew everything was going to be good. We ate in the dinning room the first night. We found out that the Windjammer Buffet had more choices for kids. So we ate all our other meals there. Plus the pizza place was a favorite. In the Bahamas we did the dolphin Excursion. IT WAS FANTASTIC !!!! It was worth ever penny. The kids are still talking about it. After we got back to the ship we hung by the pool. We had the second seating for dinner ( 8:30 ) so we got showered and dressed and off to the show. All the shows were great. Then to the Windjammer for dinner. Then walked around the ship and to bed. The next day was Cococay Island. What a beautiful Island. I recommend you get off the ship early. This way you have the beach all to yourself before the entire ship gets to the beach. In one of the coves we were at there were sting rays . My son swam with them. There were 3 just swimming around with him. This was our free excursion. Totally unexpected but my son loved it. We went Jet skiing. It was an hr tour. Very fun. They had a BBQ for us which was great. I do want you to know you can get these mats to just lay in the water with . But I didn't know they charge you $10 each. I found this out the last night when I saw the bill. Oh..I also read on here that at cococay you need water shoes. I bought then and never needed them. There were rocks by the edges of the cove. but that's it. We had to leave the Island by 3:30. Don't wait for the last minute to leave. We stood in line for quite a while it was very hot and they didn't have anything to drink. We got back on the boat and went to the pool . They have a never ending flow of ice cream by the pool all day. We got showered and off to Bingo. That was fun then we saw another great show then dinner at the windjammer. If you're traveling with kids buy the soda card. The last day was Key west. We took the trolley tour. It was about 1 1/2 hrs. Then my son and husband went on the submarine tour. They enjoyed it a lot. My daughter and I went to the pool. they had games by the pool. It was fun. We hung out until it was time to get ready for the show and dinner. The shows are not to be missed. Overall it was a good vacation. I had gotten seasick the last 2 days . The medical staff was terrific. The gave me some medicine it kind of helped. I did use the patch . I put it on Monday and put a new one on Wed. That was the mistake . Don't change the patch!!. Have a great time.
