Sailed on the Legend 7/15-7/22/07 and let say upfront that it was the best cruise I've ever taken. DW and I flew into Tampa a day early and stayed with my DB, whose house is nicer than any hotel in Tampa. This was my 9th cruise and DWs 10th. We left for the port at 10:30 with DB (his first cruise)and DBIL (his 3rd cruise?) and were dropped off by a friend at 11. We had VIP check-in and it was fast and friendly and we were on the ship by 11:45 (3rd-6th people on). The ship was great, I loved the decor and found everything to be in good shape. We went to the buffet for lunch as the cabins weren't ready, then went to the back pool for a drink and swim. hardly anyone used the pool on day one, but it was very busy on the sea days. It hard to belive that you could 40 people in the pool, but they did. The security really enforced the adults only pool and hot tub. We hung out here every day and night. If you were on this cruise, we were the big table right by the pool. Went to cabin and went our steward, he did a great job of keeping the cabin and balcony clean. He brought DW a ashtray, kept my small cooler full of ice and made room in the mini bar for my choc milk and passion/guava juice. As with all Carnival rooms there was plenty of closet and storage space. We had the extended balcony and used it for before dinner drinks and sitting out late at night watching lightening. There were plenty of things to do onboard including trivia, bingo, towel folding, galley tour, dance lessons, shopping, meet and greets and on and on. DW won the Hairspray call-in trivia, DB and DBIL each won trivia, (I can't belive I couldn't remember the name of the maid on the Brady Bunch). I made the slots final and didn't finish last, also won $765.00 playing Blackjack, (Hi Mike). We had early seating for dinner table 175 for four. Danallia was our head waiter and Eric was the asst.( his first time in the dining room), the service was great, they remembered our beverage choices. I like milk with my meal, after the first night it was waiting on the table, the second glass came when the first was empty, and he always asked if i wanted a third. Eric will make a great Head Waiter, he has a great attitude and is very funny. The food was great in the dining room, I ate so much I can't remember everything, the duck, chicken, steak, prime rib were all great. Being from Maine i did not try the lobster and I didn't have any dessert. DB had choc melting cake and loved it. The selection on the buffet was very good, I noshed on a little of everything and enjoyed it all except for the pasta, but i did eat it late at night a couple of times so it may have been better during the day. I love the passion/guava juice and filled a bottle and kept some in the mini bar for later in the day. The Supper Club, there were 8 of us that went, and everyone of us agreed that it was one of the best meals we had ever had. I can not say enough about the service ( every time I stood up to watch the chef, they folded my napkin!!). The food was great with 8 of us we all got to sample just about everything on the menu. What a great dinner, with all the food and good conversation the lasted 3 hours, 20mins and seemed like only 1 hour. I did not use room service on the cruise. The only thing i found that may need improving is, they were letting people into the dining room 45 mins to a hour late and it really seemed to throw the waiters off. The shows with singers and dancers were okay, but all the rest were great. Alan Ball has got to be the funniest man at sea, he was a riot. The guy in the piano bar was not very good, the rock band was very good as was the guitar player in the Casino. Did not see karaoke and did not go to the disco. there was one piano player who the best I've heard in a long time and he was a kid who was a passenger!!. Ports of call: Grand Cayman, we went to Seven Mile beach and hung out. Watched it rain were the ship was, but we never got any. I did have a drink at a beach bar and it was costly, but was cheaper than when we went to Margaritaville(sp?). Cozumel: We went to the Havana club for cigars and mojitos. Did a little shopping, stopped and had some homemade tequila with a old friend then had lunch at El Morrita III. we had fresh guac, salsa and chips, 4 sodas and 4 hugh plates of food all for $24.00!! Hi Mama, we will be back. Belize: Zipline and cave tubing with Nacho, Pauline and Mike. This was one of the best days of my life. There were only 10 of us, we were first at the zipline and only a 10min walk to the cave. We floated free, and really took our time, not rushed like the ships tours. Lunch was great as were the butterflies and tour of the resort. Thank-you Nacho. Costa Maya: Rest of the group was a little sluggish so we stayed right at the dock by the pool. The reason for the lack of energy was due to the bathrobe party from the night before. What a blast, the singing, the dancing, the food, the drinking and new friends made it a night to remember. This was the youngest cruise I've been on and not a lot of kids. Everyone we met was very friendly and we made so new friends. F.O.D. you folks were great and we miss you. Shawn, you new wife misses you and Chris goodluck in the Air Force. We had VIP debarkation it was very smooth and we were off the ship by 8:45, crossed the street with our luggage and Ray was there to take us back to DBs house where we spent the night before flying out the next. In closing, this was the best cruise ever. I'm not a late night person and I never went to bed before 2am. One more thing, the showers in the spa were great and there was never anyone in the hot tub there. Thank-you and have a great day!!
