Before I begin, let me say that we, without a doubt, enjoyed our cruise on the Glory (7/14-7/21 sailing). Having said that, I fear that my review might be slightly negative in nature. We have cruised several times previously (with Carnival and with other lines). As such, it is really hard NOT to compare this trip with the others. When comparing, the Glory definitely falls short.

Embarkation: I have to say that this was one of the smoothest we have ever experienced. All the staff were courteous and whisked us away to the ship in a minimal amount of time. We happened to fly into Orlando the day before, rented a car at the airport, and then drove into Canaveral for the night. We returned the car on Sat. morning and caught the rental company's shuttle to the pier. We liked this arrangement so much, that we decided to rent a car for our return journey to the airport. It seemed to be cheaper than the shuttle options, and it was definitely more convenient to have our own wheels. We arrived at the pier around noon and were on board by 12:30, 12:45 at the latest! One piece of advice: if you so happen to come by rental car, it's nice to go ahead and go to the pier to check your luggage before returning the car. We did that and were soooo grateful we did. Others on the shuttle were having to manhandle numerous pieces of luggage. I say, get the stressful part over with first.

Room: Our room was lovely. We were on the Empress deck with a balcony. There is absolutely nothing to complain about with our accommodations. One thing, though, was the tremendous amount of noise outside in the hallway. We didn't complain or anything- kids were just running around having a good time....kind of late at night. A pair of earplugs really help in those instances! Our room steward did a great job of maintaining the room and was very unobtrusive. One slightly annoying thing was their "intent" to clean the room at all costs. On a couple of days, I remained in the room for a lengthy period of time- I was not feeling well. I had placed the do-not-disturb notice on the door, yet when a family member returned they were asked if "anyone was inside." This happened a couple of times, enough to become a nuisance. Movement of the ship: Wow! What can I say? We were definitely rocking and rolling! We went through several storms the first couple of nights. One night it was so loud we were awakened by the booming thunder. It was fantastic! For some reason, I felt the motion on the Glory much more than any other ship on which I've traveled. My mother was extremely seasick for several days and had difficulty finding her "sea legs" because of the motion. We took dramamine, which seemed to keep intense symptoms at bay!
