Traveled with children

We embarked on our June 15th 12 day Northern European cruise with 3 generation: ranging from 3 grandparents, ourselves and our six children ranging in ages from 11 to 18. Five of our eleven were first time cruisers, the rest had been on some pretty great trips. We had a wonderful time, and the Century offered a great experience for everyone.

We booked five cabins, a penthouse suite, royal suite, concierge room and 2 inside cabins on the penthouse deck. The cabins were great in there own ways. The penthouse suite was really great and offered a few unexpected surprises. The deck was at least twice as big as the ship plan shows, as there is a 10 or 12 foot deck which runs the length of the suite in addition to the "indent" deck shown on the plan. Not sure of the square footage but it was a really great deck. There also was a butlers pantry with a full sized 36 inch refrig (like you have at home), as well as a wine cooler. It was wonderful, and they kept it stocked. With 3 flat screen TVs, it was a pretty great room, and my father who chose it felt it was a great deal for all that he got. The royal suite (my room) was probably my favorite. Again the deck was bigger then pictured. I measured it at one point, but it was at least 200 sq ft+, and was wonderful. I believe we were not the exception, they were all this size (must have added on with the renovation). We had an adjoining concierge room, which was a great layout. I would recommend this arrangement, as it gave the other room a "living room" and the screen dividing the bedroom from the living room was great and gave us privacy. My only complaint was that there were some stains in the marble in our bathroom (I am not that fussy but they were substantial), which I think they could have fixed but other then that and a slightly confusing AV and lighting system we loved our room. The concierge room worked out really well, because it adjoined ours, but i have to say I felt it was a bit too narrow. It was hard to get past the bed. The inside cabins may have been the biggest pleasant surprise. Having the wall to put the beds against made for a very roomy room (it felt a lot bigger then the concierge) and the kids loved these rooms and slept really well.

The food and service were great. The first night we were given a noisy inside table, but we spoke to them (and with 2 suites we felt we should see the water and have a little quiet) and they changed it. The treated us as a group, and I think everyone got a very high level of service. We ate at the main dining room every night, and the food was very good. A few things I wouldn't order again, but in general the meat and fish were fresh and very good- we had some "food people' and no one was disappointed. The spa cafe was our favorite lunch spot. This place makes celebrity worth traveling on, the manager was attentive and the food was great (and light). The sushi bar was for real. It was for real with 10 types (maybe more) of fresh sushi every evening. Once we discovered it we kept going back.
