Please note that if you are a person who tends to complain about the smallest things that have little or no consequence, then there is no need to read on. This was a fantastic cruise and I will explain why.

First off, my fiancee and I are in our mid-20s but there were people of all age on the ship. It was a 7 night cruise (Saturday to Saturday) out of New York City's west side pier. Here's a breakdown of the week from each day.

Saturday Embarkation - We got to the pier around 11:30AM (The ship was due to depart at 4PM). The second you get to the pier, people take your bags and you don't see them again until later on when you get to the room. At first, the line seems intimidating but it actually moves fairly quickly. There are 3 separate stages of the line - passport/identification -->bag check--> registration (where you get your key card). From that point on we were free to do whatever once we got on the boat. We purchased soda cards (around $60 for the week) in the grand atrium, made our specialty dinner reservations for the week, and then headed to lunch. Make sure to go to the Venetian for lunch on the first day. It is one of the two, 5 course, no charge restaurants. The service is great, the food is extremely good, and the decor is beautiful. After lunch, we went back to our stateroom (inside cabin) where our bags were waiting for us. The location was perfect (cabin 8097). It was located midship, a couple steps away from the grand atrium. The room didn't have a ton of space but we were able to put our luggage out of the way and still comfortably move around. The bathroom is surprisingly big and all the extras are taken care of (towels, hairdryer, tissues, etc). TV has ESPN, CNN, and about 6 NCL channels that give you everything you need to know about the boat. It even has a camera at the forward (front) of the ship so you can see the weather before you go outside. For dinner we ate at Cagneys steakhouse ($20 extra per person). The main courses were excellent, although the sides could have been better. I got the surf and turf which costs you an extra $10 on top of the other charge. I'd say it was worth it considering what you would normally pay for surf and turf. We capped off the night with the opening show in the Stardust Theater. Most of the shows for the week were good, not great, but worth checking out.
