Not being the newest of ships, we were concern about sailing the Spirit. However three factors lead us to give her a try, she sailed from NY, we sailed several other NCL cruises which were 4+ Stars and the pricing was very reasonable.
I must say we left, feeling Very Good about our decision to try her. What we liked: Dinning is of course a big deal on rating any cruise ship and in this area the food was VG and service was Excellent. We had just sailed the QM2 and were disappointed with the quality of dining food and service. The NCL Spirit beat the QM2 hands down; we were awed by the difference especially when you consider the price difference. We let the staff know they had done a terrific job. Sailing was smooth; excursions available were very good and handle well
Lounges were well kept and impressive for a ship this size and age and we had a good time within even when the entertainment was a bit lacking. Service in these areas was also Exceptional, never had to wait to be asked if you wanted a drink and never hounded either.
What we didn't like: Shows were not that impressive and we were surprise because with other NCL ships this was an area they excelled in. Dance floors small - bands with the exception of one very lacking. Room service choices VGood - service Vslow No attempted control of children running all about in halls and in lounges. Pre teens should not have been allowed in casino and at Adult shows.
Overall rating 4 ½ Stars. Recommended - but if you're an old fart like me try her when school isn't out.
