This was our 11 cruise with rccl - our first Pacific coastal cruise -
embarkation was a breeze - debarkation was also a breeze -
Food - we lost weight on this cruise - we were not impressed with the food - everything was bland and dry (we usually eat to much and gain weight)
Service:
Guest relations, anchor and society desk, casino, cruise director and staff, all these employees were wonderful.
Our room steward had a surly attitude and I mentioned this at the guest relations desk when they inquired about our cruise - what a shock when I went back to our cabin later in the day and our room steward appeared and placed both of his arms over the door frame in a confrontation stance and wanted to know what I had said since quote "my supervisor crucified me". I was taken back by his tone of voice and body language. I told him my husband would talk to him. I immediately reported this to guest relations. In a matter of seconds two supervisors appeared asked me to repeat what happened and assured me I would have a new room steward and I did not have to worry about my safety. Our new steward was great.
Our waiter in the dinning room also had a problem - the general opinion at our table was he did not want to be there. Example, he asked me what I wanted for dinner and since I had already eaten upstairs I said I wanted just a salad. He jerked the menu out of my hands, returned with a salad swimming in dressing. We had no choice of a salad, and no choice of dressing. This also happened to everyone at our table. The assistant waiter was pouring glasses of water and missed and spilled water all over my slacks and just kept on getting me wet - I had to get up to stop the water - he just started to laugh. The next day at dinner we found out that the other people at our table had reported the waiter and assistant since they also had unpleasant experiences with both of them.
Captain: What a joy! We were lucky enough to have a tour of the bridge just as they were leaving port and bringing up the anchor. Such a nice, professional man, who really loves his job and took the time to answer all our questions.
Ports: We enjoyed San Diego and Catalina. Refused to get off the ship in Ensenada - the muddy water is a real turn off.
Casino: Won, lost, won, lost - but had fun doing so with everyone else.
Bingo: (see above)
Ship: Very old, needs a lot of touch up. Our cabin very worn looking and sad.
