My partner & I booked this cruise as we always wanted to go to Alaska and as a treat for my 50th Birthday. We were amazed to find out we had a upgrade when we arrived at terminal and our cabin was wonderful,180 degree view from large balcony. Butler services and Concierge, we sailed out 25th May in glorious sunshine from Vancouver drinking champagne, eating strawberries (which we had booked before cruise). Previous reviews mention scraping chairs from up above (outdoor restaurant) we hardly noticed this, and the crew on the ship worked tirelessly to please us/say hello every where we went.Always asking us about our country (England) and us them about their native countries. My partner and I sat watching the world go by and not very long started spotting Whales (so exciting).

Ketchikan was brilliant raining..yes....but hey that didn't matter to us.We went on a tour (not with ship) with Local guide (married to Tlinget Indian) who was fantastic in telling us all about Ketchikan/ history....went to Bald Eagle nesting site and Totem pole saxman village.all made so interesting by guide who explained all about totem poles, life of Tlinget Indians today and past.We only bought souvenirs made by Alaskans noticed loads stuff (tat) made in China !! Onto.. Juneau .yep raining again.....but as i said didn't bother us....went out to sea Whale watching for three hours (not ship tour)again with local people......We will never forget sight 60ft humpback rise 20ft away from us.breath taking.Watched loads sea-life..this was what we came to Alaska for...scenery/wildlife. Skagway... weather brilliant sunshine.. again went on a tour with local firm (not ship) up White Pass, on bus stopped loads places of interests...Old cemetery where lots pioneers buried (liked some of the stories about them "soapy smith").Scenery fantastic, lots of information about history of Yukon. Arrived back for dinner great sea-food platter for $25 cost about $150 in England, couple Alaskan beers great. Museum was great full info.picked up free paper and magazine all about history of area. Bought genuine Alaska mementos from little shop down back street,my partner and I bought matching rings from jeweler (couldn't resist) with gold nugget in them and diamonds.....the jeweler let me hold $30,000 of gold nuggets in my hand (took photo)...pity i couldn't bring em home.....

The food on ship was fine....bit busy at buffets, we ate at Le Bistro couple of times (cause i loved the sea-food) which was superb and East meets West again brilliant food. Sushi bar was fantastic.Drink prices to us were same as back home but more amount of drink for your money, and wine cheaper than back at England. The restaurants that you didn't pay a cover charge the menu was just as varied and brilliant food. The chocoholics Buffet was like nothing I'd ever seen.....I mean the lay-out..ice sculptures were beautiful.....I didn't eat any chocolate, but took loads photo's. I cant comment on the entertainment as we didn't go to any.. We were always on our Balcony watching out for sea-life..beautiful sun-sets. The Glaciers were fantastic, ice-bergs.....so....blueeee.
