We stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront in downtown Vancouver on Saturday night. In this area there are many places you can walk to close by. You can even take a 1/2 hour walk around Canada Place. Sunday morning after breakfast, we took a taxi to Ballantyne Pier. We were there a little early, so we stood in the line until noon. It did not take long to get on to the ship, the only hold up was a wedding party that they were letting on first. On the ship they greet you with champagne and one of the staff takes you to your room. Just out of dry dock, they had replaced a pod and put down new flooring around the pools. The ship is smaller than we are use to, but really had most everything you would want. It was still early afternoon, but nothing was happening on the ship, you would think they would have a band playing or something. When the ship is under power, or at dock, you just have to look around to see the wild life everywhere. These ships were never designed for this kind of cruising and at times, seats at the buffet are full because people just want to stay and watch. You would think when they start the Alaska cruise run in the spring, they would change the seating arrangement on the Constellation deck, so you have a great view and still be inside. Never had any problems with tendering, the towns were all good. Icy Strait Point is very small but is well worth taking the bus or walking into the town. There is a general store ,coffee shop and gift shop there. In the town there are many Eagles and Ravens and also saw some whales from shore. This ship has put everything into it's entertainment shows that you should not miss, leaving poor quality musicians to play on the rest of the ship. The aerial artists don't really fit into the shows... They have grand pianos on this ship with no one to play them. This lowers the overall entertainment for the ship. What made this cruise for my wife and I, were the employees... The best bar servers from any cruise and also the best service in the jewelry / watch shop. Disembarkation, we took are own suitcases and were off the ship as soon as they had the ramps to the ship. No waiting at all, outside there were taxis waiting.
