Our vacation started by driving 10+ hrs from Northern Oklahoma to Galveston Texas. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and met with fellow cruise critic friends Michael and Liby, we walked around Galveston. The Strand was pretty much quiet and desolate on Sunday after the Conquest and the Rhapsody of the Seas leaves. We stayed at the Harbor House right at Pier 21, it is about a five minute walk with our luggage. The hotel was pretty simple, clean with a nice view of the harbor. There was a free continental breakfast with yogurt, bagels, milk, cereals and various muffins. The staffs was friendly. No frill hotel. No pool, restaurant or bar.

April 16th 2007 Monday: Embarkation, the Ecstasy was late coming back due to some weather related problems. Embarkation was slightly disorganize and very slow due to full sailing. It was announced that our port of calls was changed. No explanation of why the 2 ports was reversed in order. Our room was not ready yet, so off to the lido deck for lunch. The buffet style Lido lunch was good with variety of meat, fish and sandwiches offered. Pizza was also available. After about 1 hr of wondering around the ship our room was finally ready. We had an ocean view room on the Empress deck midship. The room was nicely planned out. The bathroom was very small but effecient. The beds was already put together, a little big larger than a queen bed. It had the new comfort bedding system. We had pre-ordered some choc/covered strawberries and it was delivered about 1 hr before sailing. Then we met up with another Cruise Critic friends, Christie and Phoenix by the pool. There was plenty of Carnival waiters ready to take our drink orders. The weather was awesome. First night dinner was at 8pm. We were the only couple in a table for six. Since we are highly social beings, we vowed to speak to the Maitre D in the am. Tuesday: First sea day. The day was spent exploring the ship and spending time with our new friends. We also had a meet and great at the Rolls Royce Cafe with about 10 members show up. We all requested to have our dinner table linked and was no problem with the request. We had a nice long table for all of us. Our Head waiter and his assistant was awesome and very accommodating. This was the formal night and lobster with shrimp was served. There was also steak available. The lobster was small but was served with the side of shrimp.

Wednesday: Cozumel port of call. We let out at International Pier instead of Ecstasy's usual Porta Lagosta. There was shopping available, 1/2 Senor Frogs bar was also there. There were taxi porters that would help. We went to Mr. Sancho's beachside restaurant. The waiters was nice. Don't forget to print out 1 coupon per person for a free margarita or ice cream on their website. We ordered nachos and coconut shrimp. It was good food. We also had a massage, price starts at $20 +tips. There was no entrance fee. The lounge chairs and tables was free of charge. There was also a small swimming pool available.
