My husband and I are in out mid 30's. This was our 5th cruise, 3rd on Carnival. We booked our flights with Carnival. We flew Delta from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale arriving at 10:30 AM. We were transferred to the port by 11:30 and on the ship by 1:00. After standing in line for security we went into another room to stand in line for registration. We had completed our fun pass so we were directed to the right, all others went to the left. The line to the left was shorter and moved just as fast. So if you have a choice just choose the shorter line. We did have to complete the sail and sign card on the ship. So that was our next stop. The line wasn't too long but because we had booked and paid for our excursions on Carnival's website it caused a few problems and we had to wait for someone that could fix the problem.
By this time we were able to go to our room. Cat. 6B. We bought a 6A guar. and got upgraded to a 6B. We were on level 2. The room was nice. The same as what we have had in the past. The bed was very comfortable and the new sheets and pillows were wonderful. I had no problem sleeping.
The fitness center was crowded most of the time. The more toward the end of the cruise to less the crowds. It was a nice facility. I paid the extra money and took a spin class. It was OK. The jogging track also seemed to be busy.
Costa Maya. Loved it! Catamaran Sail and Snorkel. We boarded a bus that took us for a 20 min ride to the catamaran. It was a little run down, but the snorkeling was nice. We actually had a guide we followed. We were spilt into groups of 8-10. Each with a guide. Once the catamaran returned we opted to walk to town instead of taking the bus back to the port. We sat under a tent on the beach, ate lunch, and I had an hour massage for $20.
Costa Rica. Skip the ziplining. We have had much better. But the bicycle ride was a lot of fun. We did get to see alot of the land because of the bus ride to the canopy. This excursion took up most of the day so there was not any time left for shopping.
Panama. You'll got to see the canal. We took the Canal and Kayak. We stayed about 45 min. at the canal and actually say the Elation lock through. The kayak also took another 45 min but it rained the whole time. So we didn't see much wildlife.
The food. We ate in the dining room, Golden Olympian, most of the nights. Our waiter didn't have much of a personality. The food I thought had improved since our last Carnival cruise. We also tried everything else possible. The deli was great, the burgers and hot wings we good as usual. I was a little disappointed with the Lido food for dinner. There wasn't much to choose from.
Overall the ship was clean. It was a little hard to navigate because of the dinning room was in the middle and you had to go up and over or down and around. That got old. I like walking straight through. The pool area on the back seemed to not have alot of air flow. It was hot in that area. We found ourselves hanging out at lido pool. The bar staff were great. We enjoyed talking to Yasa, Adi and Ryan. They have a great attitude, even after dealing with some of the rude guests.
We had a terrific time. I didn't want to leave. It was between 10:30 and 11:00 before could get off the ship. It was a long process. But we would go again and again. I hope this is helpful for the next passengers.
