This was a really pleasant cruise, even though I think it was a training exercise for new employees! Check in was a breeze, as we were lucky enough to be directed to the diamond desk instead of standing in line, no photographers to hold us up, so in 20 mins we were aboard. The cabin was nice and spacious, but do not waste money on getting a cabin on deck 6 or 7, we heard there was much more movement and that the cabins squeaked all night! One passenger was told to turn his TV up loud so he wouldn't hear it. The ship itself is beautiful and well kept, except for the railings which desperately needed a coat of varnish. The cabin stewards were amazing. we never came back to an uncleaned cabin. Also the new bedding was the best we have ever slept on, very comfortable. Dining was OK, not the best we have had on RCCL, sometimes the food was cold, but perfectly acceptable, the buffet was spacious and never a line. Eat breakfast there, much more choice and eggs cooked to order. The only real complaint was the entertainment, every night was one entertainer, it would help if it was mixed up a bit. Since they were on board all the time, it would have been easy to do. The ships tours were a little hit or miss, the tour to Seville got there too late to visit the cathedral, and ran over by 2 hours. In the Azores if it is cloudy, the trip to the lakes was a waste of time. Taxis are abundant, but the day we got there they all jacked up the prices of their tours, I had been on the website the week before and knew what it should have cost. Duty free on the ship was the cheapest, except now you have to pack it in your luggage. There was no problem on carrying on soda and water, and even getting alcohol aboard didn't seem to be a problem, the inspections were very casual. Tipping was a breeze charging it to your seapass card, so much easier than worrying about having enough cash on hand. I have a feeling some people are still not tipping as they should, as everyone we handed the envelopes to were very grateful, in our cabin the last night, the towel sculpture was a big heart! Hope this helps.
