My wife and I are seasoned cruises, this being our seven cruise. We have cruised with RCCL and Carnival in the past, this was our second cruise with Princess. Since we have sailed on other LARGE ships we are aware that the number of passengers will shape some the results of any cruise. With stated, this cruise was full with lots of kids and first time cruises. Our cabin was the standard fare on large ships and very clean, and the room attendant did a fine job. However the rest of the cruise staff was cold and must have been told NOT to SMILE at the passengers. Dining room service was good but not great, we choose Anytime Dining and eat at both the Coral and Palm dining rooms. Both were clean but in need of A/C at heavy dining times. Food was good but the size of portions was on the small size. Since service tips are pre-deducted, the wait staff was polite but not overly friendly. The entertainment was ok, we had already seen the stage show on our cruise in Sept. 2006 on the Diamond Princess. The showroom and lounge showrooms are must to small and you better be in a seat one hour before show time or No seats available. My question to the cruise line is why were they letting passengers eat in either the dining rooms or horizon court without cleaning their hands? We notified staff of our concerns, but saw no improvement in this matter. The size of pools were small and the HOT tubes were NOT HOT. Also, if you have a question on your ship charges would better have three days to work out the problem. Our travel agent sent was a gift card for a "free bottle of wine" with dinner on any night of the cruise. We used this gift card on our 3nd night and I found a charge for the wine on my billing form the next day. When I questioned the charge, I was told that I must have wrong and that it would take three days to correct the charge if needed. Getting off the ship was OK, more people are using to Walk OFF process and this needs to controlled a little better. We used princess transfer to the airport and things went well.
