My April 21 sailing was with a family group which included my 5-year old niece and her parents. Although all except my little niece had cruise before, it was the first with Disney for everybody.
We flew in the day before, and spent the night at the Ramada Inn and Suites on McCoy Road. My room there had a peculiar smell, although the rooms of the others in my group did not. These accommodations are adequate if you are satisfied with budget chain motor inns. I have champagne tastes with a beer pocketbook, and would rather have stayed at the airport Hyatt. The Ramada did provide a breakfast Saturday morning, and free shuttles from and to the airport.
Embarkation Day We shuttled back over Saturday morning to pick up the Disney bus transportation to the port, which we had opted to buy. In the Disney transportation area of Orlando International the long queues (just like Disney World folks!) are divided between the buses for the cruise port and the buses for the theme park. Check in at the right line where you'll be instructed to bring your luggage to an area outside the doors, then you join another queue back inside for the bus. It was a chaotic area, but the lines did move along. It must have been a confusing set-up for many, because some people neglected to check in first and couldn't board the bus, and others hadn't deposited their luggage in the loading area.
