Ship Facts: Carnival Liberty Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Liberty Deck Plans
Carnival Liberty - Western Caribbean
BACKGROUND INFO

My wife and I take allot of cruises. We do at least 2 cruises a year. We normally do more RCCL then Carnival but this is our 3 Carnival together. We have not had very good results in the past with Carnival and thought we would give it a one last go. We live in south Florida, so we just hope on.

EMBARKATION

We arrived at the port at 11:15 am. Make sure you have ID when entering the port, and everyone with you does. We waited in line for 15 minutes and they started to let us in the building to start the process. It took 45 minutes to go threw the full check in and we were on the lido deck drinking our fruity drinks. The cabins were not ready till 1:30pm. We went and booked Harrys the on board Supper club for Tuesday night 7pm. Its 30.00 not including a tip.

CABIN

We had a cabin 7451 back of the ship wide balcony. The cabin was very roomy lots of closet space and huge bathroom. We were greeted by the cabin person almost the second we came in the room. He showed us all the cabin stuff and also opened the mini bar for us. The only thing i did not like about the cabin was its too far from the front, the cabin shakes due to being aft, there is no privacy from the cabins next door on the balcony's, and people throw things down from above all the time.

RESTAURANTS, FOOD, BAR SERVICE, AND OPEN AREAS.

The food is par for Carnival and on a big ship and all. We eat at 8pm aft dinning room. The waiter was very nice did his job, but did not go out of his way in any way to go above. We had a large table of 8. We wanted small table but what ya going to do. The table was right at the door of the dinning room.

We went to Harrys one night and it is worth every penny (30.00) It is a 3 hour meal and i would leave room as the portions are very big and the food keeps coming.

Bar service i must say is the worse i have had on any ship. They are never around in any of the decks, or lounges. We had to get our own drinks at dinner and bring them in as no bar waiter was any were to be found. My wife drinks a lot of soda so we got the soda card. $7.00 a day all you can drink. If you order a coke from a bar waiter they wont bring you a coke unless you buy a drink drink. Why offer this if you wont bring it? I was so mad at this point. We had to get our coke from the main bar every time. They need to get more bar people. The main show room only has bar service on deck 3 only.

The promenade, and other rooms were very nice and large. The gym is tiny compared to the people on board. The decor is beautiful. The artist out did him self. The lobby is gorges. Emillys is great. Fish and chips.

The food in the lido deck is bad, Never hot and always run out. They also do not keep the food out that long. The grand buffet is not very grand. Its one half of the lido deck service station and not much food at all.

SHOWS AND ENTERTAINMENT

The shows are very bad. The review shows are very loud and garbage. The special acts are also very poor. We did give them a try because i love these shows. I could not take it by the 3 day. The casino is great and ok fro the size of the ship. Very Smokey tho.

ISLANDS

Weather in all ports all week were hot and sunny and perfect.

Freeport - nothing there. Why do they go there?

Grand Cayman - love this island. Did Turtle farm, Hell, and Sting ray island. We payed 135.00 for both of us total. The Stingray city was the best thing have ever done. We all met at the jimmy buffet restaurant. margaritaville. Ship tendered right downtown.

Costa Maya - This is a great little port i loved it. The main port is brand new and has all top shops due to the cruise lines pumping money in to it. We took a cab downtown for $3.00 each and $2.00 back. The downtown is all locals and has all local Mexico shops. We ate at The Cats Meow. Owner is a Canadian lady who lives there for many years. We had a $20.00 massage for 1 hour and it was better then the ship people do. You can also get a $10.00 massage for half an hour. We did no tour but many people we know did and you can check it out on line. The drinks flow easy and much in this port.

DEBARKATION

We got to wait in out cabin till they called our color and we were off in 20 minuets.

We had a great time this week and it was mainly due to our cruise critic friends we met. The ship is nice and big, public rooms are beautifully. Cabins are large and pretty.

Over all we will go Carnival again if we get a good deal. You get what you pay for. We will go with RCCL for most of the cruise trips in the future. We prefer the food, entertainment, and service with them.
