Carnival Valor - Western Itinerary

I could not get enough information about my trip on the Valor, so for those of you like me, I will give as much info as I can. My wife and I are in our mid 30s and this was our second cruise (Majesty of the Seas). We chose the Carnival Valor for itinerary and price. We chose an inside guarantee (IS) because we are not picky about rooms (just price). We were assigned cabin 2219, which is on the Main deck at the front of the ship. We arrived a day early and stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. We also stayed here before our first cruise. It is close to the port and Bayside, and I will stay there again.

We took a taxi to the port at 11:30 a.m., got our room number (when you book IS they sometimes will not give you a room number until you are at the port) and handed our bags to the porter. We proceeded to the check-in and waited about 20 minutes in line. We then waited another 20 minutes to get our Sail and Sign cards/room keys and were enjoying a drink in the lobby of the ship at 12:15 p.m.. Our stateroom was ready just after 1:30 p.m. and we met our steward. He was great. No complaints. Nice towel animals and never bothered us while we were in the room. We had the muster drill at about 4 pm and left port soon after.
