This was our 3rd Carnival cruise and 1st time in Miami. We flew in the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. Great view from our 7th floor window of the port. Took a cab to South Beach and spent the afternoon with another couple going on the cruise with us. Let me just say, it was much different than Myrtle Beach. Very interesting. That nite we had dinner at Bubba Gumps at the Bayside Market and listened to a band playing by the water. Even a little dancing.
Awoke the next morning to see our home for the next week out our window. Very nice. We were on the ship by noon with our first bucket of beer and tray of food. Weather turned a little wet for sailaway but we still had a good time. Took pictures from our balcony during sailaway. We had been upgraded to the panorama deck which we loved! So convenient to everything.
Half Moon Cay is a beautiful private island but the chairs were kind of crowded on the beach. Still, a very enjoyable day. We booked More a snorkel with the stingrays excursion thru the ship which we all enjoyed.
St Thomas we had originally planned to ferry over to St. John but the weather was gloomy so we opted to stay in town and shop some. Then we took a taxi to Coki for some snorkeling and sun worshipping. The fish here love dog biscuits even more than my dog does.
San Juan....What a beautiful city. We walked off the ship and booked an independent tour for $20 per person. It was supposed to be 1 1/2 hours but Bruno kept us out for over 2 hours. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and funny too. We went to a local market, 2 forts and 2 beaches. He also took us inside the capitol which is made entirely of marble. Very beautiful. After the tour we went to the infamous Senor Frogs. This was our 1st time here and it was everything I had heard and then some. We had a blast.
Grand Turk was beautiful also. We mainly just laid by the pool at Margaritaville. We also got some conch shells from the conch graveyard to take home.
Our wait staff was Eva And Andras from Hungary. We fell in love with them. They were so sweet and took really good care of us all week. No one had any complaints on food. Everything we tried was good.
The ship may be older but in my opinion it doesn't show. I did not notice any wear and tear other than normal. She is a really beautiful ship and I would go on her again in a heartbeat. But....I want to try them all! Less
