This was our 3rd RCCL cruise, and I must say, I thought this ship was my least favorite. I found that things were not easy to find, and there were many little "spots", like restaurants and "bars" and clubs that were "tucked" away into a corner of the ship. Also, I thought the staff were a little "lax", and found service to reflect that. Was that a reflection on the captain...possibly so. He never made announcements arriving into port until we were already disembarking and had been in port an hour or so already, trying to find out where to leave the ship. We (my husband and I) were up early every morning watching the sunrise on the walking track, and we found dirty dishes, glasses, etc. strewn all over the deck. We never encountered this on other cruises. I was a bit shocked. The cabin was average...a balcony is indeed a must as far as I'm concerned. Our cabin steward, Maria was a delight, and she greeted us daily with a smile, and a "animal towel". Unfortunately, not the cruiselines fault, we had very annoying and obnoxious neighbors on both sides of us...loud, foul mouthed, and smoking all the time on the balcony, and we were not able to enjoy our balcony as much as we have in the past. It would be nice if the cruise lines allowed smoking only on certain sides of the ship and we could book our cabins accordingly. The food in the Windjammer was good...I think the buffets have actually improved over the years. Reflections restaurant (main dining) was beautiful, but the tables were a little cramped...we had 7 people seated at a table that usually seats 6. Our Head waitress, Gloria, was wonderful...very professional, and a hard worker. Bar service was a bit confusing...you're supposed to receive free soft drinks at dinner, but we were charged...WHY????Again, things seemed a little "lax" as far as how things ran on the ship. Claudette, or "Booze-Mama" as she preferred to be called was wonderful, and we really enjoyed her personality, and her exceptional service. The food was "average". Coming from the Northeast (Rhode Island), we have excellent restaurants, and are a little spoiled with our restaurants here. The ports of call were nice, with St. Lucia being my favorite. We've been to most of them before, but not St. Lucia. The natives were very friendly, and welcomed the tourists without being "pushy" into buying the local "artifacts" as they are on some of the other islands. The spa service was excellent, but very pricey. Also look out for the sales pitch after you are done with your service. They'll try to sell multiple products to you, which are also very pricey. The Production shows were also just average. Fair singing and dancing. The headliner show, Dominick Allen from the group Foreigner, was the highlight of the cruise. My husband and I were dancing in our aisle. he was multi talented, playing the saxophone, guitar, and clarinet, with tributes to Benny Goodman, Sammy Davis Jr., The Jazz Age, Swing Bands, The Eagles, and Foreigner. A great entertainer, even though a lot of the audience (older generations)walked out on him...I don't know why! Overall, a nice cruise. Very relaxing. Average. Nothing exceptional.
