We are a family of 3 from Southern California and this was our first cruise aboard a HAL ship, 6th cruise all together. We arrived at the port around 1:00 on Saturday and had an amazingly quick and painless embarkation. We had lunch at the Lido and then went straight to our awesome stateroom. The room was quite large with a lovely balcony, comfy beds and linens, a bathroom with duel sinks and a separate stall shower and whirlpool tub with shower capabilities. Our luggage arrived very quickly and we were unpacked before the muster drill at 4:15. Our cabin steward Awdi was always on the ball. The weather was gorgeous as it was to remain the ENTIRE week of our cruise!
The Seas were rough the first night and the dining room was not crowded. The food overall was quite varied and tasty and the service from Dave was efficient. He never made me feel bad if I ordered 2 of something or sent back an entree that just did not appeal to me. The parmesan encrusted chicken, surf and turf, chilled soups, chocolate cakes and souffles all YUM. All in all I would give the food a 9 out of 10 and my scale agrees.
My son who is 12 loved Club Hal and attended almost every evening in the tween group 8-12. He said the counselors were great and he enjoyed the scavenger hunts, games, arcade and just hanging out with other kids. He turned down dinner in the dining room every night to hang with his new pals. He also loved the ice cream bar.
