I previously cruised on the Carnival Sensation, Fascination, and Imagination (enjoyed them a lot) but was beginning to get bored since those ships are very much the same and showing their age. I was ready to try another cruise line, but my wife absolutely loves the "funship" atmosphere on Carnival and wanted to stay with them. So we decided to step up a bit and try a newer, bigger ship from Carnival. I was afraid that it would be too much the same thing and possibly crowded. But after spending a week onboard the Triumph I can honestly say that I was impressed by the nicely decorated beautiful ship, not at all bored, and again thoroughly enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
We met lots of fun people on this ship and in ports. The Carnival staff, for the most part, seemed to genuinely try hard to help you enjoy your stay. I do not like crowds but even with all the people this ship carries, I usually didn't feel crowded. There were slight exceptions such as if you get on the sundecks late it can be difficult to find a place. I really enjoyed the evening shows and had no problem getting good seats. They even had a magician one night who filled the entire auditorium with snow (yes snow). All six of us found the food to be excellent and visually stunning. I particularly enjoyed the lobster, several kinds of fish, the enchiladas, and filet mignon. My favorite dessert was the baked alaska, but the grand marnier souffle was a close second. Breakfast offered a choice of sit-down or buffet.
Our room was one of the least expensive but Carnival gave us upgrade to the outside. It was a very nice room and large enough to include a couch as well as two beds. I am picky about cleanliness but was impressed as to how clean the ship was kept. Only one small thing bothered me and that was where water from a broken pipe had left stains on carpet in the lower hall but it was easy to overlook.
