We traveled to Houston the night before arriving in the late afternoon. We booked a night's stay at the Sheraton in North Houston. It was fine. There was a dance competition going on there, so restaurant was crowded. Saturday morning we went back to the airport to catch our Princess transfer to Galveston. It was pouring rain, so the trip was slow, but we arrived by noon. The embarkation process was very smooth. We arrived and were on the ship in about 5 minutes.. Our luggage arrived in our rooms (we had 2 side by side, we traveled with our 12 and 14 year old kids), by 4 o'clock or so...

We were in Emerald 604 and 606 and had the best cabin steward ever! His name was Frankey and he was fabulous. Anything we wanted, he got in record time. He was friendly, professional and courteous at all times!!

The rooms were very comfortable..especially the beds. We had read so much bad press about the beds that we requested the "egg crates". They were extremely comfortable. We slept like babies every night!! There were plenty of hangers and drawer space....a place for everything. The rooms are designed to use every inch of space well. The bathroom, although small, was just fine too! The ship was in very good shape. A few times during the week, we witnessed crew members painting or sprucing up areas and it was always immaculate. When we boarded in Galveston, it was raining so everything in the open deck areas was saturated. By the next day, the crew was out with wet-dry vacs and you would never know it rained at all!
