This was our second Carnival cruise. This itinerary took us to Cozumel, Belize, Costa Maya and then Nassau.
Embarkation: Was an absolute breeze. We stayed at the La Quinta in Cocoa Beach the night before we left and payed a few bucks extra to keep our car parked there for the duration of the cruise. There was a very convenient van that took us to the port and then was waiting for us when we got back. A very nice way to start the vacation. We flew through security, had our sign and sail cards waiting and were on the boat with a rum and coke in our hands within 20 min of arriving at the port. We arrived at 11:45.
Entertainment: Well, we happened to spend a few nights at the Cinn-a-bar listening to Peter the piano player. Made quite a few friends and went a little nuts with the Kamikaze shots. I highly recommend stopping by to see Peter and tell him Darren and Elli sent you! The magic show was good. Some of the acts were really pretty neat. Not sure how he does them all.
We booked all our excursions through Island Marketing group. They run belizecruiseexcursions.com, cozumelcruiseexcursions.com and costamayacruiseexcursions.com. They are very organized and saved us a bunch of money over booking directly with Carnival.
We went to the Reef Club in Cozumel. Very nice and relaxing. We had some fun running around on a hobie cat.
In Belize, we did the X-stream cave tubing with our tour guides King David and Flava flav. They were great and had a good knowledge of Belize. Floating down the stream/river was very relaxing. We had 4 people in our group compared to the 30-40 person Carnival groups that got in our way.
In Costa Maya, we went to a beachside all inclusive area. Enjoyed some snorkeling. They were very eager to take care of us there.
For Nassau, we never made it off the boat. We ended up sleeping late and then just hung out by the pool.
Food: The Sushi and Deli were great. The pizza is good when you get it right out of the oven. We had late seating in the Golden room for dinner. Most of the dinners were good. We ended up getting several appetizers and entrees and splitting them.
Room: We had an interior room, which we really did not spend much time in at all. It was clean and what you expect for an interior room. The bed was pretty much the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. We spent most of our time on deck having a refreshing beverage by the pool playing Rummikub and Backgammon. Bringing games was a good idea, but then again we like games.
Boat: In general, the boat was well maintained. Lots of places to explore. If you are not happy in one pool, room or club, there are plenty of choices to go to. It was nice to have so many hot tubs on the boat as well. Make sure you get a deck chair early or you won't get one.
Debarkation: Was a nightmare. People did not have their customs forms filled out and the line wasn't moving. But, once we got to security, it was quick. Wee Jimmy (the cruise director) tried his best to tell very bad (but a little funny) jokes to keep us in a positive mood. Getting back to the hotel was easy and our car was safely waiting upon our return.
