This was our second cruise. As the first was over 25 years ago, on a Russian ship, the Maxim Gorky, which no longer exists, we may as well count this one as our very first experience. We loved it! We have already booked again for December on HAL. While we live in Montreal, we have grandchildren in NYC and will be very happy to see them before and after our next cruise.
I am 63 and my husband is 70. We are both employed more than full time and we were looking for a relaxing experience which we found on the Zuiderdam. We were brought to the ship by friends and left by taxi - no problem in either direction. Everything appeared to be handled efficiently and we had no difficulty with luggage in either direction. We did not leave the ship except to go to the Little Switzerland shop in Grand Turk for a specific purchase. We hope to be more adventurous next time but we really enjoyed the pools when fewer people were around. We also felt that 7 days were too few for us and will be going for 14 days in December.
The cabin steward (Dewa) was excellent although having 16 cabins to attend to is quite a big task. We found the cabin to be large enough and appreciated the verandah. Would never go without one in the future. We had too much luggage but were able to unpack with no difficulty. We did not see the advantagein getting a suite.
