Just got off the Valor yesterday and already miss it. This was my third Carnival cruise and my husbands first. I had sailed the Paradise and the Breeze. I was worried about taking my husband on an older ship since I had done the Breeze, but I was wrong. The Valor has the wow factor that the Breeze doesn't. The Breeze seemed very generic to me, the Valor is anything but.  I guess since we have both served in the Army it made this ship extra special.  Our room ended up being an Ocean suite, I had booked a balcony but the week before got the upsell for the suite and it was worth the 300.00 to make this a special cruise for my hubby. This was the repositioning cruise from San Juan to Port Canaveral. We embarked in San Juan wish we had flown in the day before so we could have explored this port more. We had no problem getting on since we didn't get to the port til 3:30. The next day was St. Maarten we took a taxi to Maho Beach and watched the planes . This was on my husbands bucket list and we were not disappointed. We had a blast. Then back to the ship and walked around the shops and did some shopping. Then back to the room for a nap.

We had your time dining, but I don't think I would do that again. I lost track of time and when you go late to dinner the wait is long. When we would go early at 5:45 no wait. So a couple of times we missed dinner. The only complaint we had was that the buffets closed by 8:00, 8:30 all that was open was the deli or pizza pirate and both had really long lines. So we opted for room service which was excellent but only sandwiches.

St Thomas was our next stop. We went to Meghan's Bay . It was beautiful!!!!! We took a taxi only 8.00 there and 4.00 to get in . We got there around 9:00 beach was empty. If you want to rent a chair the rental shop opens at 9:30. We just grabbed a picnic table . We stayed there til 11:30 when it started to get crowded. We took a taxi back to the ship. The taxis are plentiful. We shopped and did lunch at Senior Frog's by the ship. Very expensive but very good and lots of fun.

Our room was beautiful. Very roomy and very quiet. We originally book a balcony but got a call to upsell to the suite for 300.00 . Glad I did it for my husband's first cruise. Next time we will go back to a balcony because of price but if the call for upsell comes I'd take it. The bed was comfy and room was very quiet. We even used the jetted tub. The cleaning staff was wonderful. the room was 5 stars all the way.
