Prior to going on the cruise, I read all the reviews posted. We have cruised with different cruise lines and each experience was different. This cruise was totally different in that there are no days at sea to just relax. We rented a car in Maui for two days and had shore tours planned for the other days. We left the ship by 8:00 AM every day and returned at 5 or 6:00 in time to get dinner. We were so tired that we only attended one show, the Frankie Vallie Tribute, which was wonderful. You cannot look at this cruise as you do others. This is a terrific way to see different islands and have a place to sleep and food to eat.

The ship was clean, the crew all very nice and helpful. We did not have any negative experiences. We ate most of our meals in the Aloha Cafe or the Cadillac Dinner. As on all Norwegian Ships, the main dining room has limited options. The right side of the menu stays the same; the left side changes nightly. But the food in the Aloha Cafe was wonderful with many, many selections. The Cadillac Dinner is a fine place to eat with a limited but delicious menu. Our best shore tours were the ones in Kauai - we visited the Waimea Canyon and went on the Fern Grotto tour.

One suggestion I have for anyone traveling from the East Coast, please plan a day or two in Honolulu prior to getting on cruise ship. Between the time change and the length of the flights, you are exhausted when you arrive and for the next day. We arrived on a Thursday evening and on Friday just got a feel for the area. After the cruise, we stayed in Honolulu for five days and rented a car. There is so much to see and do. Pearl Harbor was the most moving experience (you can purchase your tickets online six months in advance; they sell out of tickets very, very quickly) and we attended the Chief"s Luau which was wonderful. We laughed so much and really had the best time. If you want to visit Hawaii, Norwegian is the best way to see and experience different islands. You spend very little time on the ship. Hawaii is worth the expense and the travel time. It is a beautiful place and the Hawaiians are very laid back, the most friendly people, always smiling and saying Aloha. You will have the experience of a lifetime and come home with such great memories.

The cabin was clean and well attended to. Rodney was a great cabin steward and answered our questions promptly.
