Sailed 3/13 to Port Canaveral, Cocoa Cay, Nassau and Key West. Fourth cruise, first with RCCL, all prior were with Norwegian. In a nutshell, they are comparable. Flow out of Baltimore was wonderful - that's the trade off for the smaller ships which have to cross under bridges out of the Chesapeake Bay. The Grandeur is a bit older, and smaller. All the main action takes place in the Centrum, and all the flow works through there on almost all floors. We enjoyed the trivia and some of the shows. Felt a bit limited in activities.  I didn't understand why the Schooner Bar was overflowing for trivia when the South Pacific Lounge lay empty right next door.

The staff and crew were extremely friendly, except for some attitude and language issues in the Shore Excursions. They really should try harder to put people with stronger English skills on the desk.  I heard several complaints in general.  We had a complete scheduling mixup, and just couldn't seem to get the clerk to understand that in a party of four, two of us were purchasing the snorkel package and the rest were going to bring their own. We ended up getting four "cabinettes" reserved out of that conversation, still trying to figure that out.

Solarium was supposed to be for adults.  There were kids there constantly, even when the pool was open, and no real policing taking place. My biggest complaint relates to the "My Time" dining. It isn't. For those of you trying to compare it to the NCL freestyle cruising, let me say that they truly wanted reservations even though supposedly you could come when you wanted. We were even asked to make reservations 1 day early, and were turned away twice because we didn't have them. I think it's a question of capacity - the area fills up quickly and then is full for an hour. Be forewarned. In sum, the port of Baltimore was great, staff was great, activities and food good, not great. All four in our party felt it was a cut below NCL, mainly because of the limited activities and quality of the shows/food. Poker was lame; no real poker table, played at a blackjack table and the rake was pretty stiff. Non-alcoholic drink package was expensive for what you got, and the wifi, at $30/day was over the top. Overall, a good time and we'll cruise again, probably not on the Grandeur.
