Our first cruise on Carnival was not disappointing. We have been loyal RCCL cruisers for many years, but wanted to cruise out of Charleston. I wasn't expecting much due to the other reviews, but was pleasantly surprised at how much Carnival does right.

I loved the Serenity area. We spent most of our time there when at sea. Unfortunately it was spring break and some of the kids are not very respectful of others. Most of them viewed the ship as their own disposable garbage bin and it got irritating. I understood they paid the same money I did to "party" and do what they wanted, but we tried to stay out of the party areas so we could enjoy what we paid for - to relax. Unfortunately they tried to bring the party everywhere. Many nights we were woken by loud laughing and raised voices in the corridors as they were all returning from the night clubs around 2am. Finally on the last night we noticed a security officer waiting there in the corridor - I'm guessing he was there at the request of many complaints. I did notice one day in Serenity a security officer did come and ask them to quiet down which pleased the rest of us. I wish he would have just asked them to leave.

The food was very good. I couldn't complain about anything I ate - many choices and always varied.

Cabin 4C

This cabin is near some loud engines or something. We almost always heard noise of some sort. I didn't have trouble going to sleep or staying asleep because of it. It was designed well though and we never felt crowded.
