We booked the five day cruise on the Caribbean Princess as part of a twenty day respite from the winter of northern Indiana. I had made the reservation back in March or April of 2014 and had made it with the idea that we would cruise for fifteen days--five on the Caribbean Princess to the Western Caribbean and ten days on the Royal Princess to the Eastern Caribbean. This was our sixth cruise with Princess. We have never cruised on another line.

We always go to our embarkation port at least a day ahead of the cruise. In the winter we are concerned about potential weather delays, but the cost of airfare was significantly less costly if we went two days early. We left home on Wed, Feb 18, driving to Indianapolis where we spent the night prior to flying to Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday, Feb 19 where we arrived early afternoon. We boarded the Princess transfer bus around 2:30 along with around ten couples bound for the Coral Princess which was leaving that same afternoon. I would never plan to arrive the day of departure, especially that late. The bus took the passengers to terminal two so they could board the Coral and then took my wife and I to the Embassy Suites. We were to board the Caribbean Princess on Saturday, so we had plenty of time to relax prior to Saturday.

We checked into the Embassy Suites and went to our room. We are Hilton Honors members, but since the hotel was booked through Princess we did not get any HH points but did get credit for a stay of two nights. My wife's electric curling iron had died while at the hotel in Indianapolis, so I set out on foot to find her one like she likes. I walked to the Walgreen on Eisenhower, none like she wanted. I walked to the Publix, the Winn-Dixie, TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, and finally to the CVS pharmacy five blocks west of the Embassy Suites before finding what she wanted. She was recovering from arthroscopic surgery to her left knee and was in discomfort when ever walking, so she could not accompany me. The Embassy Suites is a typical Embassy Suites; it is old and in need of some renovation. The rooms were clean which is important.

Cabin Review

Cabin AA

Quite a bit more room than the balconies we usually choose. Really liked the sofa bed for a place to sit. The larger bathroom with full size tub will make us consider booking mini-suites in the future rather than balconies.
