Cabin: Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

This was our first time doing a back to back cruise, making a total of 4 cruises that we have now done. Cruised in January starting off with a 7 night cruise to Tasmania, back to Sydney then off to the South Pacific islands for 11 nights.

RC made the process of arrival back in Sydney for the second cruise easy. The first cruise was more of a last minute decision for us, in order to join a married son and his wife for a few days together. The second cruise to the islands had been booked many months earlier. So we had different cabins and had to change cabins and decks. We could leave our clothes hanging in the wardrobe for a staff member to move for us, and just pack up all our other belongings. Of course, if would have been much easier had we been staying in the same cabin.

As the first cruise was in Australia only and the second sailing out of Australia, we had to get off the ship to go through Customs. But thankfully, we did not have to line up with everyone else and we were put through very quickly.

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

First cruise was an ocean view room, second one was the balcony room. First cruise room was great, a little movement but not too bad, was at the front of the ship on deck 9. Second part of our back to back we were on deck 8 in the middle with a balcony. After the first night of this cruise, had to complain to the front desk as the room was unbelievably noisy. We have never experienced a room like it, it creaked and groaned all night, and it wasn't even in bad seas. I never slept much, and after waiting for over 4 hours the next day, they finally moved us to another room. On the other side, same balcony room, and this was a normal quiet room. Don't know what was wrong with that other first room, but a security officer checked it, also the head of the front desk staff and another member came and listened, and all agreed, something was not right about that room. We were just so thankful they could move us. Whilst on this part of our cruise, about 10 or so cabins on our deck that we walked past experienced a blackout for some time, no power or lights to their cabins at all. There was some electrical failure that the ship experienced, and this affected some cabins. We were thankful it wasn't ours. We have heard that Radiance has these problems quite frequently, the staff all know about it, and why they don't fix the problems properly is hard to understand. This is another reason I would not cruise with the Radiance again, you never know if your cabin is going to be one with a problem.
