Hey Guys,  This makes our 8th or 9th cruise exclusively with Carnival but it was our first time on the Freedom. We chose the Freedom simply to try out a new boat. Although we did have a good time I must say this is the most boring ship of Carnival's that we have experienced and I hope it is not a preview of what is to come. I have noticed that Carnival finds a way to "cut" something out each time we cruise. I'm sure like any huge corporation before something is cut an analysis is performed where the "value added" is questioned.

For instance: When we first started cruising they provided lunch trays in the buffet areas to carry your plate, cup, bowl, silverware, etc. then one day they were gone and oversized plates were provided in lieu. No problem though, a little inconvenient and not much value added by having the trays that probably afforded at least 3 people a job on each boat washing and gathering trays. Here is another: the last cruise we went on the refrigerators in the cabins were gone. This cruise there weren't any bathroom condiments provided although I'm sure you could purchase toothpaste or mouthwash if you forgot to bring your own.

The new smoking policy that will eventually be effective on all of their boats is a real drag. there used to be smoking allowed on one side of the open air Lido deck and non-smoking on the other. Now you have to go up to "planet of the sun and wind (10th deck)" to smoke and no more smoking on the balconies in your stateroom. Their excuse was the cigarette smoke offended other guests when I'm sure it was actually the result of some bean counter that figured out they could make it so uncomfortable on the smokers that they go to the casino to smoke and gamble and lose money. I say this because if the offensiveness really concerned them they would not allow smoking in the casino. True they have a non-smoking area in the casino but that is like having a peeing section in a pool.

The cabin was good. We were pleased to see they haven't removed the mini refrigerator from the rooms yet.
