We took a short cruise to Amsterdam & Zeebrugge from Southampton on 3rd March. Arriving at check in we were confronted by a large queue, fortunately a meet & greet gentleman noticed I was disabled & ushered us to a check in purely for those with a disability. We were soon on the ship but the cabin was not ready so we went to the Plaza self service restaurant. Again, we were met by a huge queue & when we finally selected our food Had a problem finding somewhere to sit. Eventually our cabin was ready, on entering I was surprised how small it was despite having a balcony. However being only a 4 day cruise we would not be too inconvenienced by the lack of storage space & cramped accomodation. The cabin steward was good & attended to our every need with courtesy & a smile. The theatre entertainment in the evening by the Headliners was not as good as previous tears with too much ensemble stage movement & singing rather than good solo performances. Other entertainment in alternative venues were much of a muchness & certainly nothing to get excited about. We had preferred dining but had a longish wait for a table so often dined in the self service diner. The food lacked a decent variety & would be very boring on a longer cruise & was often cold. We went on 2 excursions one an evening cruise of the Amsterdam canals with wine & cheese tasting & one a tour of the coutryside & outskirts of Bruge & a visit to a chocolate factory, both being very enjoyable although a little overpriced. All in all I feel that the standards of the Oceana have fallen since our last cruise on her (April 2014)
