I’ve been on numerous cruises and have never written a review before. Since it seems that people are more eager to share negative thoughts than positive, I thought it was about time I posted a review.

This was our eighth Celebrity cruise and our second on the Solstice. All others were on M-class ships or the Xpedition (fabulous by the way). We did a 17-nt. New Zealand/Australia departing Feb. 8 from Auckland, ending in Perth. About a third of the passengers were staying on another 17 nts. B2B to complete the circumnavigation. We were glad we made the decision to do only the first one since the second had even more sea days and we were ready to be on our own on land again.

We began our trip eight days prior flying into Christchurch. My husband had spent a lot of time there in the 70’s as an Air Force pilot and was eager to visit again. He was very distressed by the earthquake damage that had destroyed the old downtown buildings but it is still a lovely city with resilient people that are optimistic about their city’s future. We spent a day at the Antarctic Centre and the Botanic Gardens, both great places. The next day we took the TranzAlpine Express train to Greymouth where we rented a car to explore the South Island, one night in Franz Josef, three nights in Queenstown, then back to Christchurch and flight to Auckland to embark.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 2

Cabin A2

Like our locations near the forward stairs on deck 11 but service area across the hall was noisy at times. This was the first time we had the bed next to the veranda and found we like having the extra space toward the door. Port side fabulous for docking in Sydney.
