The eight day Feb 20th departure on the Sunshine was our third Carnival cruise (Breeze ’13 and Fascination ’00) and fourth overall (Wonder ’09). Although the written reviews were mixed prior to our cruise, our immediate family who had previously cruised on the Sunshine reassured us that we would not be disappointed.

As many know, the Sunshine was upgraded from the Destiny receiving the 2.0 upgrade and deck modifications. As one walks around the ship, the fact that this is an older ship is not obvious other than some worn stair treads in the open areas. I never noticed any huge signs of rust, smells, or things falling apart as have been mentioned in previous reviews but we did not see all of the cabin decks.

It was a busy ship but not to the extent that we were frustrated with lines or crowding. I have read contrary opinions since though. Chairs could usually be found on the decks somewhere unless it was the serenity area on a sea day which seemed to be the spot in most demand.

Loved the Lido deck. Walk straight down the hall from your room to the pool and the fun. Keep on going for the food.
